I currently work on a new ESPON project ‘Territorial instruments of national policies as a tool for designing territorially sensitive policies‘ (SENPO), which investigates how national territorial instruments, such as the Dutch NOVEX or the Italian National Strategy for Inner Areas, perform and whether and how they are synergised with EU territorial instruments (e.g. Integrated Territorial Investment). The project is led by the EPRC and focuses on five case studies. Apart from the already mentioned NOVEX and SNAI, we also study the German Metropolitan Regions, the Polish Areas of Strategic Intervention (OSI, see here) and the French State-Region Planning Contracts (CPER). Expect results this autumn.
