The book to which I had the pleasure of contributing with a chapter, written together with Giancarlo Cotella on the basis of ESPON COMPASS research, has just received a positive review by Prof. Vincent Nadin in Regional Studies. He writes: “cohesion policy has only a modest territorial dimension and tenuous cross-fertilisation with spatial planning. Those who share my frustration with the weakness of spatial governance in Europe will find much to interest them in this book.” This is a spot on commentary and I reflects my own dissapointment with the gulf that exist between Cohesion Policy and spatial planning, despite the numerous potentials for cross-fertilisation and synergies between these two policy domains. These potentials were clearly flagged up in our ESPON project on that matter (see policy brief here).
